Fun, Fun, Fun

Want something to play but not seriously watch? The 5 Minute Crafts channel on YouTube is a delight. No dialog, not exhortations to like and share, just gobs of craft tricks, suggestions, ideas, and such shown with bubbly background music.

Mental junk food yes. Well, except there’s some genius useful thing every few minutes. So your time isn’t totally wasted away.

Thank You Mom

“Moooommm, what’s for Dinner?” “Food.”

And to this day I’ll eat any meal put in front of me, enjoying the vast majority of them.

Good Morning to you
Good Morning to you
We’re all in our places
With Sun Shiney Faces
Good Morning to You!

And I great each day with happiness.

ML: Ace Typewriter

Getting things fixed, like plumbing, cars, refrigerators, whatever is frequently an exercise in sticker shock. The fixer usually can give you a list of other things that you should take care of when you can. As in, can catch your breath to pay for them. All of this with vague or jargon filled explanations of what was done or needs to be done.

Imagine the opposite experience. The repairman gives full, easy to understand explanation of what was done, there’s nothing else that needs doing, and it costs less than you expected. Perhaps you’re given a couple of tips on how to keep it all working great for the long.

Can you imagine that? If you’re having trouble doing so, get a typewriter and take it to Ace Typewriter. Or go to Ace to get your typewriter from one of the restored machines on the shelf. There are portables and desktop typewriters. All are in great condition.

All of this comes to you from owner Matt, a lifelong typewriter repair person.

One word of warning, the business is well known among typewriter owners throughout the country. There can be a long line of machines waiting to be serviced.

Making Procrastination Work

Oooohhhh! Shiny object to buy! Tempting food! Nice Drink!

The greatest lesson given by technology purchases, phones, compuers, and such, is you can always wait. The object you want will be cheaper, better, or both in a little while. It doesn’t matter how good the sale is, waiting will always give you more for less. Purchasing benefits from procrastination.

Procrastination works elsewhere. Tempted by something? Put your procrastinating self to work. Procrastinate on that bag of chips, restaurant meal, additional cocktail, or item you impulsively wish to buy.

You know how to procrastinate. Make it work for you.

Poetry and Stoicism

What do they have in common?
Both have stereotypes fueling strong misunderstandings about their nature.
Maybe it’s just me.

To check on the alignment of stoicism and your beliefs about it visit the Daily Stoic website.

Poetry is a very side sea. Perhaps reading The Poets Laureate Anthology will provide an experience base. Or choose a poet, perhaps the accessible Billy Colliins and browse their books. Or perhaps listen to Billy Colliins reading a pair of poems. I found the Wikipedia Poetry page to be a bit dry, though I won’t fault it for lack of comprehension.

You have your life and it is filled with your concerns. Perhaps these will fit into it.
